Dr. John C (Joc) Jernigan

My name is Joc Jernigan. I have had the wonderful pleasure of joining my father and the team at DentureCare and Implant Solutions in 2013. I grew up in Raleigh with my parents and two brothers, I being the middle.

I grew up watching my dad in his profession. I always was able to tell how hard he worked at it. During the summer when I was playing little league baseball, I would have to come with him to work where I barely started to see what an impact his and his team’s work had on people’s lives. As I got older this became even more clear.

As I started to have to face the reality of choosing a profession, these things resonated in the back of my mind, which helped lead me to dentistry. It is a blessing to be involved in a profession, and at an office, that can truly help change a person’s life by giving them their smile and confidence back, and ability to eat.

I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in psychology and chemistry and completed my Doctor of Dental Surgery at the UNC School of Dentistry.

I have a genuine passion for dental implants. My enthusiasm for them comes from knowing how much of a positive impact they can have and truly change a person’s life for the better. Dental implants are such incredible things, and one of the most important and amazing things to ever happen to dentistry. They have created so many new treatment options that did not use to exist and were not believed to be possible.

Dental implants can do so much for so many people, but I genuinely believe they provide the most benefit for a patient in a denture, especially patients dealing with a lower denture. For these reasons and more is why I have devoted an enormous amount of energy and time to learning everything I can about them, and have completed over 600 hours of continuing education outside of school devoted solely to dental implants and corresponding procedures.

I have had the opportunity to become a Diplomate of International Dental Implant Association in 2017, a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology, and a member of American Academy of Implant Dentistry. I am also a member of the North Carolina Dental Society and American Dental Association.
